Bought a used car and having trouble to deregister VEP (Vehicle Entry Permit) registered under the previous owner? Don’t worry – the steps below will guide you through how to deregister the existing VEP so you can update it properly under your own name.

Step 1: Visit the VEP Portal

Go to the official JPJ VEP website: https://vepams.jpj.gov.my/ep-portal-fe. Click on the “Deregister” button to begin the process.

Step 2: Verify Your Email

Enter your registered email address to receive a One-Time Password (OTP). Use this OTP to verify your identity before proceeding to the next step.

Step 3: Provide Required Information

Fill in the necessary details as requested on the portal. You will also need to upload:

  • A copy of the front and back of your NRIC (for Singaporeans) or passport (for foreigners).
  • A copy of the front and back of your vehicle log card.

Step 4: Submit and Await Approval

Once all information and documents are submitted, click “Submit.” The application will then be reviewed by JPJ. You will be notified by email once the deregistration has been approved.

By completing these steps, you can ensure that the VEP previously tied to the old owner is properly removed, allowing you to register your own tag without issues.
